The town of Gödöllő is situated 30 km from the capital, in the north of Hungary.

The Royal Palace of Gödöllő is one of the largest baroque palace building complex in Hungary. The Castle was built in the middle of the XVIII. century by Antal Grassalkovich I. who was one of the most prestigious aristocrat of his time.
In the second part of XIX. century the Palace was given to Emperor Francis Joseph and Empress Elisabeth as a coronation present. Empress Elisabeth, Sissi, who was famous for her modern thinking, spent more time here than in Shönnbrunn. Guests can see the scene of the private life of the royal couple, 26 completely renovated rooms, providing a home for a unique introduction of royal suites in Hungary.
Also the 26-hectare ancient park of the Palace is beginning to regain its past beauty.
