Hollókő is located on the eastern side of the Danube, on the northern part of Hungary, hardly 100 km away from Budapest, in the Cserhát Mountains.
This "living museum" was added to the Cultural and Natural Heritages of the World in 1987 for preserving unique values of folk art and applied art.
The inhabitants belong to the Palóc ethnic group, whose traditions, folk song, old dialect and colorful, richly decorated folk costumes are rooted far in the past.
Its appearance and unity are due to the complex of historic buildings consisting of 55 houses and the scenic natural environment. In the centre of the village a white walled, shingle-roofed church stands which became a symbol of Hollókő.
Visit this colorful place with us and discover its charm! On request we can enhance the whole day tour with folklore and handcraft workshop programs, little concert of the local women's choir wearing the traditional many skirted dresses and hairdresses, singing folk songs. We also offer the special program of visiting a local family for "home-hosted lunch", which always makes the excursion unforgettable.
